Hanna Janta (Hania) is a social scientist with an inter-disciplinary focus, particularly passionate about researching various mobilities related to tourism and migration. Using empirical data; qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods, she has published nineteen scientific papers in social science peer-reviewed international journals, including in tourism, migration and geography, co-edited two special issues (in Population, Place and Space on “Visiting Friends and Relatives Mobilities” & Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies on the theme of “Human Capital, Employment & Skills”) and contributed to book chapters and encyclopaedia entries. She graduated from the University of A. Mickiewicz, Poznan, Poland (including a Socrates Erasmus year at Dartington College of Arts, UK) with a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Polish Philology, and from the University of Exeter, UK, with the Master of Science (MSc) in Tourism, Development and Policy. Her PhD (Bournemouth University, UK) focused on mobilities, acculturation and learning processes of migrant workers in the tourism industry. Hania is a qualified academic teacher and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PG Certificate in PhD supervision, Bournemouth University, UK) and a qualified doctoral supervisor (PG Certificate in Education Practice, Bournemouth University, UK). She previously worked as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University and as a Senior Lecturer at University of Surrey where she also managed a large doctoral programme in tourism. She currently acts as a Project Coordinator: “FilmInd – The Indian Film Industries as a driver of new socio-economic connections between India and Europe” funded by ESRC, EU-India Platform: Home | FilmInd | The Indian film industry as a driver of new socio-economic connections between India and Europe (unibas.ch). She is a Visiting Research Fellow at University of Surrey and an Evaluator/Expert Reviewer for the European Commission.
